First post of 2008

Welcome to the spring 2008 course PR law, ethics and diversity. I'm looking forward to some interesting discussions and cases, and current events always add a great dimension to the class. So be sure to bring in news events that are relevant to our discussion.

Two links to start with:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fake_blog

This will help with our investigation of fake blogs (obviously a no-no in the PR world, but that hasn't stopped some agencies and other PR professionals from trying this) and will help with our first research project. We'll be studying authenticity, credibility, and authority on Wikipedia and in the online world in general, and we'll try to make a contribution to this particular entry at Wikipedia.

Yes, you'll be reading the NY Times along with me all semester. Here's the first story, in Sunday's paper, about spin, crisis communication, defamation of character, and other issues pertinent to our class this semester.
